Kyle Gregg, 23, of Cortlandt, has been sentenced to seven years each for attempted kidnapping and criminal possession of a weapon dating back to an incident that took place on Jan. 5.

According to police, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, the woman was walking southbound on North Bedford Road (Route 117) in Mount Kisco when Gregg pulled up alongside her near the Bedford town line. Gregg offered the woman a ride, which she refused.

Shortly thereafter, farther south on the roadway, Gregg again stopped next to the woman, demanding that she get into the car. When she again refused, Gregg pointed a handgun at her and demanded that she get in the vehicle. The woman ran away, and the driver fled the scene, prompting an investigation.

Westchester County Police detectives, working with the department’s Real Time Crime Center, determined that the suspect's vehicle had out-of-state plates and was possibly a rental car. Further investigation led to the identification of the driver, and detectives looked for him in Cortlandt in the following days.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, a deputy sheriff from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department spotted Gregg’s suspected vehicle in the vicinity of Oregon Corners at the Cortlandt-Putnam Valley town line, prompting a traffic stop. Westchester County Police detectives were called to the scene and Gregg was taken into custody, and a .22-caliber handgun was seized.

“I commend our detectives for their work in bringing this case to a fast and successful conclusion,” Westchester County Police Commissioner Thomas Gleason said at the time of Gregg’s arrest. “I would also like to thank the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for its assistance in locating the suspect.”
